What is SEO?

SEO stands for search engine optimization. It is a very large web of headings and words in your blogs, which directly relate to the searches, made on any search engine such as Google, Yahoo, and many alike. The basic idea of search engine optimization is to help you make your blog known to every user out there by just searching for some keywords which relate to your blog. Seo Is a technique to improve the search engine result of any website for any targeted keyword. It is one of the most important factor for increasing organic traffic for any blog or website.

For example, you are writing a blog with the heading “How to have fun in Los Angeles?” if you make a Google search for the same words, Google will display all the websites and web pages that contain these specific words in them.

If your blog has a better ranking, it will be displayed in the starting lists of the search you just made.  The search engine shows the content which is most relevant to the user, and by running an algorithm to judge the relevance of the pages, it ranks and displays the web pages.

Using H1, H2, and H3 header tags

The best way to make your blog search engine optimized is by using the right headings, also known as the header tags. Using the keywords in the headings and subheadings can help a lot in optimizing the essay for the search engines.

There are different categories of the header tags beginning from H1 tags and moving to H2, H3 and so on. The H1 tag is the biggest tang and normally used for writing the title. This has to portray the main essence of the blog using the keywords in it. But, never use the keywords in a stuffing manner that makes the heading look hasty, because the search engine realizes the lack of professionalism in the content.

After the H1 heading, the first sub-heading is known as the H2 header tag. H2 tags may not look like sub-headings but as it is considered second in place to the first heading, it gets called H2 tag. It is really important to use some keywords in the H2 tags as well because they link the headings to the topic, hence making a strong SEO. After the H2 tag, the H3 tags are also regarded as very important in some cases.

For example, you write an H2 tag consisting of the words “Visiting Hollywood”, considering the previous example of H1 tag; you need to mention what things you can do while visiting Hollywood, to make your stay worthwhile. Hence, you will need to make sub-headings under that specific heading, about the things you can do when visiting Hollywood. Ultimately, when a search engine runs its algorithm and starts looking for keywords matching its search, it starts looking through your H1 header tag. If it finds some keywords there, it will increase the page’s rank and display it earlier. But if the keyword it is looking for does not happen to appear in the H1 tag, it will go to H2 tag searching for the keywords. This process of searching for keywords beginning from higher to lesser heading will keep on until the right words are found or the blog post ends.

Linking the H1, H2 and H3 tags is the basic principle for creating a search engine optimized blog post. If the search engine finds you stuffing any information or keywords, they will certainly rank your blog to the lowest and it will not show up in the first pages of the search engine, for sure. Hence, it is better to think before generating all the headings and creating a chain of keywords, linking them together with each other.

There are also other tags such as the H4, H5, and H6 tags, but they can only increase the complexity of the blog you are writing. Anyhow, still the key is to link the particular header tag to the previous header tag, using similar keywords. A good SEO blog helps in making money online.

4 Tips to be considered while creating the header tags for your website

Some of the important things which should be kept in mind while writing blog posts are as follows:

  • Never stuff your headings with keywords. Use moderately and only when it seems suitable.
  • Never use more than one H1 tag in a single page.
  • Never use the heading as a hidden text. It means never try to conceal your heading somewhere in between the text so that a normal person may not recognize the difference. Beware the search engine can detect this type of activity easily and may even end up blocking your website.
  • Try to avoid repeating the same header tag for different pages. Try to make new and exclusive header tags for every page; this will help you get more traffic on your site, rather than only getting a specific type of audience who only search that repetitive header tag.

Always remember, providing your blog with header tags can result in two things. If used with the perfection it is supposed to be used, it will bring a lot of traffic to your website or blog. On the contrary, if used in an unprofessional way, violating all the rules and conditions mentioned above, it can contribute to disregarding and neglecting your website by the search engines.
